On the Common
Traditional and modern features coincide in this family home. Creating a visual appeal with a range of materials and finishes throughout open versus concealed areas.
This family home in South West London underwent a side return, full refurbishment and internal remodelling.
The traditional front style of the front of the property was retained while the rear of the house was modernised through the introduction of steel beams and large glazing panels.
The client wanted to achieve an honesty with the materiality of the new build. At first glance, the kitchen appears to have a white ceiling but from upon further consideration the steel beam can be seen through a detail void in the side.
The circulation in the house is carefully considered, corridors to the kitchen subdivide the living and dining areas, establishing distinct zones while still keeping it open. Upstairs, large bedrooms and bathrooms possess high quality finishes floor to ceiling.
